This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of creative entrepreneurship in the context of emerging economies, with a particular focus on Global South countries. It emphasizes the role of creativity as a key resource in environments characterized by limited access to financial, institutional, and technological resources.
The course explores the process of generating entrepreneurial ideas, creating value based on cultural capital, developing startups in conditions of uncertainty, and leveraging digital technologies within a mobile-first economy. Special attention is given to the informal sector and its role in shaping entrepreneurial ecosystems.
The practical component of the course is oriented toward the development of students’ own creative business projects, taking into account local contexts (including Nigeria), as well as the analysis of real-world cases such as Nollywood, fintech innovations, fashion industries, and street entrepreneurship. The course also fosters adaptive thinking and entrepreneurial resilience.
